Exhibition on 150-year anniversary of M.I. Rostovtsev

During the Forum  «Classical Studies’ Days in Saint Petersburg. 150 years anniversary of M.I. Rostovtsev»  for the session «M.I. Rostovtsev and Classical Studies Triunity: History, Archaeology, Philology»,which took place on October 28, 2020at SPbIH of the RAS the employees of the Library of the Institute installed an exhibition «The books of M.I. Rostovtsev in the Library of Saint Petersburg Institute of History».

There is no such library that keeps all the works of M.I. Rostovtsev. The Library of the Institute of History can’t claim it either, but has a lot of his books. The main source is the private library of academician S.A. Zhebelev preserved in the Institute.

The exhibition includes about 100 separate items along with similar amount included in convolutes of S.A. Zhebelev. The works of M.I. Rostovtsev are presented шт chronological order. The first two showcases include pre-Revolutional publications, the third keeps works written in emigration, modern editions, several works on M.I. Rostovtsev’s personality and studies along with two convolutes and typewritten collection of articles (with the article of M.I. Rostovtsev) made in 1926.

Scientific seminar “Russia in the Modern Era (the 18th – the beginning of the 20th cc.): the state and the society”

In the frames of the seminar “Russia in the Modern Era (the 18th – the beginning of the 20th cc.): the state and the society” the discussion of the report by D.Sc. in History A.E. Kotov (Institute of History of SPbSU) «Periodicheskaya pechat’ Severo-Zapadnogo kraya v obshchestvennoi bor’be 1860-kh – 1870-kh gg.» took place.

Due to epidemiological issues it was carried out distantly from October, 26 to October, 31.

Classical Studies’ Days in Saint Petersburg

 

 

On October 28, 2020as part of the forum «Classical Studies’ Days in Saint Petersburg. 150 years anniversary of M.I. Rostovtsev» at the Conference Hall of SPbIH of the RAS  the session «M.I. Rostovtsev and Classical Studies Triunity: History, Archaeology, Philology».The session starts at 16.00.

During the session the exhibition of works of M.I. Rostovtsev preserved in SPbIH of the RAS will be presented to the visitors.

The All-Russian conference

Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the RAS in cooperation with the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskij Dom), RAS on October 19–21, 2020 is to carry out the scientific conference timed to 500-year anniversary of the foundation of Antonievo-Siysky monastery  «Antonievo-Siysky monastery: preserved sanctuaries» [“Antonievo-Siysky monastery: sohranennye svyatyni”].

The sessions will be held: on October 19 at the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Birzhevaya line, 1-а); on October 20 at St. Petersburg Institute of History of the RAS (Petrozavodskaya str., 7); on October 21 at the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskij Dom), RAS (Makarova emb., 4).

In memory of the scholar and the colleague

We announce with deep regret that following short-term disease the oldest research fellow of Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the RAS, an outstanding specialist in Russian culture and social movements of the 19th century Doctor of Philology, professor Boris Fedorovich Egorov died on October 3, 2020.

 

We present our condolences to all his relatives and colleagues.

The date of funeral will be announced later.

A new book

 

“Alyans-Archeo” publ. issued a new book by A.K. Gavrilov “Studies of the Ancient Greek Inscriptions of the North Coast of the Black Sea” [“Issledovaniya po drevnegrecheskim nadpisyam Severnogo Prichernomorya”]. ISBN 978-5-98874-175-6.

The book incorporates ten articles on the inscriptions from Chersonesus and Cimmerian Bosporus as evidences of history and culture of the ancient towns of Taurica. The book examines moot points of interpretation of these documents in research literature. The book aims at a wide range of specialists, philologists, historians, archaeologists studying the region of the North coast of the Black Sea and interested in issues connected with publication of epigraphy finds.

New book

Russian Academy of Sciences Library issued the proceedings of the international scientific conference on restoration and conservation of manuscripts, books and documents “Manuscript Research and Restoration”. ISBN 978-5-3360-0274-4.

International scientific conference took place on September 17-18, 2019.
