The publishing house «Istoricheskaya Illustratsiya» released the next issue of “Proceedings of Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences” “Peter the Great, Russian authorities and society in the era of change: Collection of articles timed to the 70th anniversary of Yuri Nikolaevich Bespyatyh” (“Petr Velikii, rossiiskaya vlast’ i obshchestvo v epokhu peremen: Sbornik statei k 70-letiyu so dnya rozhdeniya Yuriya Nikolaevicha Bespyatykh”). ISBN 978-5-4469-1479-1.
The issue 5 (21) of the “Proceedings” is timed to the 70th anniversary of Doctor of Historical Sciences Yuri Nikolaevich Bespyatyh. The collection includes the works of his colleagues and disciples on the issues of the era of Peter the Great. The first section includes articles revealing the role of the North in the political and economic life of the Russian state in the late XVII – early XVIII centuries. The studies that made up the second section focus on the biographies of Peter the Great and his contemporaries: statesmen, diplomats, and military officers. The third section discusses various aspects of the history of St. Petersburg in the first third of the 18th century.

The publication is designed for historians and all those interested in the history of modern Russia.

St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of History of St. Petersburg State University announce a meeting of the Seminar on the Old Russian History which will be held on December 12, 2019, at 16.10 in St. Petersburg Institute of History of the RAS (Petrozavodskaya ul., 7, Conference Hall).
 
At the session N.V. Bashnin (SPbIH of the RAS, senior researcher, Cand.Sc. in History) delivers a report “Census books of the 17th – the beginning of the 18th cent. as historical sources (on the basis of Vologda Archbishop House)” (“Perepisnye knigi XVII – nachala XVIII v. kak istoricheskii istochnik (po materialam Vologodskogo arkhiereiskogo doma)”).
 

At the seminar the launching of the monograph by N.V. Bashnin “Perepisnye knigi votchin Vologodskogo arkhiereiskogo doma Sv. Sofii 1701–1702 gg.: Issledovanie i teksty» (“The census books of the estates of Vologda Archbishop House of St. Sofia of 1701-1702: research and texts”) will take place.

Leading researcher, D.Sc. in History Boris Nikolaevich Kovalev was granted Yaroslav the Wise medal of the First Class (the highest distinction of Novgorod State University). The ceremony took place at the “Antonovo” concert hall.

Prosveschenie publ. issued the new book byB.N. Kovalev, S.V. Kulik, D.Yu. Astashkin “Zabveniyu ne podlezhit: okkupatsiya, soprotivlenie, vozmezdie” (“Not liable to oblivion: occupation, resistance, requital”) ISBN 978-5-09-075256-5.

The book presents to its readers a comprehensive description of the Nazi occupation of the Novgorod region with the analysis of economic, church and ideologic policy of the occupants and their accomplices, the study on military crimes of invaders and resistance movement. The information on the criminal prosecution of the war criminals in the 1940s-1960s is also provided by the authors. This book may be of interest for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the Great Patriotic War from scholars to school students.

The launching of the book took place on November 29, 2019 at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

“G’yole” publishers issued new book by P.V. Krylov “Four centuries of Swedish Vyborg” (“Chetyre veka shvedskogo Vyborga”). ISBN 978-5-90479-093-6
The book presents to the readers the review of the Swedish period of the history of Vyborg in the broad Russian and European context. Based on the experience of numerous walks in the historic part of the town, this book contains information on monuments of Middle Ages and early Modern Era with the addresses.
The publication also includes biographic references composed by translator Jacub Lapatka.
The book is designed for broad range of readers and can be useв as the guide.

Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the RAS welcome everyone to the session of the seminar “Russia in the Modern Era (the 18th – beginning of the 20th cc.): the state and the society”

The report by A.T. Urushadze (Southern Scientific Centre of the RAS, Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don) «”Caucasus is quite a special object”: emeperor, ministers and governors struggling for decision on political course at the southern extremity of Russia» will be delivered.

The session will take place on November 28, 2019 at 17.00 in SPbIH RAS (Petrozavodskaya str., 7; Conference hall (room 23)).
